What makes this Civic special is its 2.2-litre diesel engine. On paper it appears only average, but on the road it pulls strongly from low revs, is quiet once warmed up and offers genuine hot hatch levels of overtaking potential. The manual gearshift is precise and the brakes powerful but easy to modulate.

This engine was used in Honda Civic 7 gen and 8 gen., Honda Fit, Jazz and City. 2. L13A i-VTEC was a variant with a 16-valve i-VTEC SOHC head. The compression ratio was 10.5, the power was 99 HP @ 6,000 rpm, and the torque was 127 Nm @ 4,800 rpm. It was installed in Honda Fit and Civic. 3. L13B was the modification with a 16 valve DOHC head.
But I'm having trouble finding one as they seem a bit thin on the ground. Their are however a sea of 1.4's. Sooooo, is it worth waiting for a 1.5 or would i be equally happy with the 1.4. I tink it's 115 vs 90 hp, and about 43 vs 40 mpg according to the book figures so on paper at least the 1.5 seems the one to have.
