A competent independent mechanic should be able to change a timing belt. 1050€ is far too expensive. Ours means that a timing belt is not safety-critical. If it fails you are unlikely to have an accident.

And even more obviously don't go to a dealer, go to an independent you trust. Clio 1.5 dCi 88 Dynamique Tom Tom in Oyster Grey + Twingo GT in Pearl Black on a '58'.
I personally think the Renault timing service intervals are optimistically to high. I also run a Vauxhall with a V6 engine when new they where sold with a service interval of 80,000. 4 or 5 few years after the car was sold from new and many incidents of so called premature cam belt failure Vauxhall lowered the belt service interval to 40,000 right across the model range.
Running your car in aggressive environments (e.g. salt, sand, etc.) causes timing belt to degrade faster and reduces its lifespan; under such conditions, the belt may need to be replaced sooner. Serpentine (drive) belt. Renault Megane 2002 1.5 DCi serpentine or alternator belt replacement interval is 60,000 km. Engine coolant
It should be between ~13.5v and ~14.8v (Haynes, 2010). If it is, congratulations; your alternator and auxilary belt are working well. If your voltage is low at rest, your battery *may* be at fault, you may have a parasitic drain or your charging system may have a fault (which should show up in the idle test).
Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 51 1.5DCi Snapped Cambelt. Hi, bought a 1.5 DCi Clio last month& before I had a chance to get it booked in to get it checked out the cambelt snapped. Is there any chance that the valves have not been bent, or is it better to assume that they have. Thanks. Paul

My Captur will be 5 yrs old in a few months, but has done only 48000km (I'm retired and don't travel a lot). Is it still necessary to replace the belts at 5 yrs, given the low mileage ?
I recently did an oil and filter change on a Megane II 1.5dci 106ps and found that the Renault dealers had fitted the "wrong" oil filter at the last service. I looked at the FRAM website which specifies a PH5796 filter. The Renault dealer had fitted a 82 00 768 927 filter which equates to FRAM's PH9739 as specified for a Megane III 1.5dci.
The Renault Mégane (French pronunciation:), also spelled without the acute accent as Megane, especially in languages other than French, and also known as the Renault Megavan for an LCV in Ireland, as the Renault Scala in Iran and as the Renault Mégane Grandcoupé for the saloon in Israel, Palestinian Authority and Serbia for certain generations, is a small family car produced by the French
Nov 12, 2013. #27. Yes essentially mate, it will change when turning over the engine by hand but it should settle back to the marks or very close to it. The Allen key hole on the tensioner should point at circa 12 o'clock and not be past the centre stud between the inlet and exhaust cam pulleys iirc.
Renault's Timing Belt Recommendations - DP. Most competent mechanics would fit a kit (which is the belt itself, plus a new tensioner and depending on application, a replacement idler pulley) when replacing a timing belt. the additional cost is negligible (£10-£20 usually) and these components can and do fail in service.
