If you want to test out extra lights to see how they work, go to the cabin view and turn on headlights and highbeams on a dark road at night. Then toggle your extra lights on and off. You WILL notice a difference. Like someone said earlier, it's like daylight at night.
Re: Separate engine and electronic start and lights. The setting is in the gameplay tab and is called "automatic engine and electricity start". Press E once to turn on the electrics, and press it again to start the engine. Also, I wouldn't bet on any non-key ignition trucks in existence (unless they're custom built by a third party).

8. Just like in real life, you can't fix your vehicle with the press of a magic button. You have to get the vehicle to a service center. Each city usually has one, as indicated by a red square with a wrench symbol. If you don't wish to drive to one, you can, alternatively, press F7 and then Enter to be towed straight to the nearest service center.

Just switch gears to reverse and they should turn on. They automatically turn on when the truck is in Reverse. They will not light up otherwise. If they are not lighting up in reverse, then the mod you are using is broken. you go in reverse its automatic .
